Start the Car!!!!

As many of you already know it there was no tax at the Atlantic Superstore on Friday and Saturday this week. This is the best time to redeem your FPC (Free Product Coupons). I had FPCs for Pledge Multisurface that I had been waiting to use for quite a while. The secret is to keep them until a No Tax Event. The Superstore has them once in a while.

The Gillette men shampoo and gel was down to $2 and I had many of the Save $5 when you buy 3 Gillette product. I managed to get everything you see in the picture for $7. I would have been able to get more but the Pledge coupons were "one per customer" so I had to make many trips. I still have 3 of those coupons left but I will keep them until the next No Tax Event.
I am estimating this would have cost me $96.05 at full price:

21 Gillette shampoo/gel x $3 = $63
5 Pledge x $5 = $25
Plus 13% tax for a grand total of $99.44. So $7 out of pocket is quite an exciting deal.

I am really stocked up on personal items right now that I got almost for free. Check a small portion my pantry.

4 x $10 games = FREE only paid tax

Over 20 Glade Fresh Effect or Sense and Spray FREE only paid tax. Worth $226

15 Sunlight Green Clean x $0.99 each plus tax = $16.65. Worth at least $85

Jean Ferrat Dead at 79

One of the greatest French singer, songwriter and poet of all time, Jean Ferrat, died on March 13, 2010. He was one of the last giants of French music. He died in hospital in Aubenas near his home of Ardèche in the South of France where he has been admitted a few days earlier. He had lung cancer.

Ferrat wrote over 200 songs most of them dealing with his political views. Some of his songs were banned from French broadcast in the 1960s because of their communist views. A huge fan of poet Louis Aragon, he also wrote music for many of Aragon's texts. He will be sadly missed by many including me. A compilation of many of his work - 11 CD will be coming out on March 31, 2010. It is available on Amazon for $329. Well worth it if you are a fan!

Zellers: $10 Zellers Gift Card

If you are on the lookout for some good deals next week you need to read this one.

Zellers is having a P&G promotion. Get a $10 Zellers Gift Card when you buy for $25 of P&G products. The promotion starts April 2 to end on April 18. Forms will be found at Zellers.com around these dates. This information will be on page 24 of next week's flyer.

I believe this is the same promotion Zellers had a while back. It is a good deal but can be a much better deal if you use coupons. It says that the $25 has to be before taxes but does not mention anything about coupons. Last time they had this promotion coupons were allowed. So you buy $25 worth of P&G products and let say you use $15 worth of coupons (there are some really good ones out there for $5 off when you buy 3 Gillette products) you end up paying $10 and you get a $10 gift card back. So you are getting $25 worth of products for free.

Here is a list of some P&G products: Always, Venus, Tampax, Secret, Olay, Nice'n Easy, Downy, Bounce, Pantene, Cover Girl, Ivory, Gillette, Scope, Oral-B, Pampers, Charmin, Cascade, Crest, Head & Shoulder, Iams, Tide, Downy, Puffs, Gain.

The Shoe Company now open in Fredericton

The Shoe Company has arrived in Fredericton! They are now open at the Corbett Centre, 9 Riocan Avenue. I have not been there to check it out yet....maybe I should not given my love of shoes....it might end costing me a bit $$$.

There is a coupon in Thursday's Daily Gleaner for:

Save $5 off every pair of shoes $39.99 to $64.99
Save $10 off every pair of shoes $69.99 to $104.99
Save $20 off every pair of shoes $109.99 and up

Great coupon but what happens if you want to buy a pair of shoes that is $65.99 ????

Happy shoe shopping to all shoe lovers out there.

Costco in Fredericton - Myth or Reality

So we have been hearing about Costco coming to Fredericton forever now. It's been years in the making and we still don't know what's going on. First they could not decide on a lot to build the huge warehouse on and when they did the environmental groups got on their case. At one point we heard that the new Costco was going to be build either in Fredericton or Saint John. Well, Saint John is getting theirs since it is now built and I believe will be opening sometimes in April or May. Does that mean that Costco in Fredericton is dead? Does anyone know?

It is not actually the deals that I find attractive at Costco but rather the variety and novelty of products. I am already a member and I always find time to stop at the store in Moncton. Actually I was there this weekend and managed to rack up close to $100 with about 8 things in the bottom of my huge cart. Yes, this is why they call Costco the $100 a trip store.

I am most likely to purchase books when I go to Costco. They have a great selection of French and English books and the children can always find something they want to read. I never say no to books (within reason of course) and the children know it. This weekend I also purchased the New Moon DVD for $19 and I did not have to be at Blockbuster at midnight to get it......The Orville popcorn and the Kirkland cashews are also some of my favorites.

Things I don't stock up at Costco because I can get them mostly for free somewhere else are toilet paper, shampoo & conditioner, body wash, razors, shaving cream, body cream, liquid detergent, cleaners, cereal, coffee, etc. You would be surprised at what I have stocked up that did NOT cost me anything. It all has to do with planning and clipping coupons. Let me know if you want to hear more about free stuff and the next time I can get something for free I will post here so you know what I am talking about.

Until next time!

Fredericton Direct Charge Coop and the Competitors' Weekly Flyer

The Fredericton Direct Charge Coop performs price comparison with the two main food retailers' weekly flyers. I think these would be Sobeys and the Atlantic Superstore. They ensure that the Coop prices are lower than what the competitors have on their front-page flyer. This way you can feel confident shopping at the Coop knowing that you are getting the best price.

They also offer lower prices on many other products advertised in the competitions' flyers on a weekly basis.

The Shoe Company is coming to Fredericton

Shoes, shoes and more shoes!! What could be more exciting!

Yes, finally Fredericton is getting its own "The Shoe Company". It is located in the Corbetts Centre just besides Petsmart. I still have to investigate exactly when this little treasure is opening its doors.

If you live in Fredericton you understand why this is worthy news --- there are not many shoe stores selling brand names shoes around here. Except of course one of two very exclusive boutiques where you would end up paying $200+ each pair.

Keep your eyes on this blog and I will bring you all the latest!

Coupon shopping

OK. So I love coupons. It is a love and hate relationship. I love coupons but I hate using them in the stores. Cashiers always make me feel weird about using coupons. Most of the cashiers that is. I do have my favorite cashiers at a few stores where I shop often. I have always used a coupon here and there without really understanding their hidden value. Customers in general have no idea of all the great buys they can get using coupons. Take this weekend for example. I hit four stores. Managed to stack up $107 in products and ended only paying $7 from out of pocket. I know I already mentionned this deal in one of my other posts......but hey I am pretty proud of this one.

What's up

Just came back from slidding at the park with the kids. We were the only ones there. Not sure where all the parents brought their kids today....maybe they are all gone at Disney!! The kids had a great time and so did I in a way. I had this great idea to walk down the hill in order to be able to take a video of the kids coming down. The way down was easy enough. The small problem was the way up. Since I had not set foot in a gym in many many months needless to say that I was searching for my breath when I reached the top. I had this image in my head of me suffering of a heart attach and passing. I guess I need to start exercising a bit more. The exercise I get running the malls in search of great buys with my coupons are not enough. Do I need to join a gym or will just power walks around my neighbourhood be enough??? I will have to think about it.

March Break

So this week is March Break in New Brunswick. I took the week off work to spend time with my two school-aged children. Today we went to see a movie and stuff our face with popcorn. I don't really feel quite good right now....too much popcorn! or I should say too much butter on the popcorn.

Tomorrow weather permitting we will go downhill ski for the day or maybe we will just go sliding at the park. I need to be outside to get some fresh air and exercise. I did not take a full week out of work to stay in and post blogs on the Internet....

Roll up the Rim to Win

As my luck goes I rolled up the rim twice today and nothing. I wonder if I will even get a freebie donut during the contest. Ever wondered if people buy more coffee during the Roll up the rim event? I can bet you coffee smells sweeter when there might be a car attached to the rim of your double-double.

If you don't drink coffee you can play the online contest for free coffee for a year. There will be a daily winner every day during the month of March. But then if you do not drink coffee why would you want to win this!!!

I will come back to let you know how many coffee or donuts I win.
If you knew me you would have a good laugh about me blogging on the Internet. That is the woman who had no idea what Bookface or is it Facebook was all about a mere month ago. Mind you I am now able to post photos and even videos on my Facebook account. I am still to master the Twitter thing....not too sure what this one does but I will get there.

So here I am blogging away for my first blog. I can see how this would become addictive to some people. My main objective here is a blog about saving $$$$$. I love deals and coupons and I think I am getting a bit addicted to this coupon clipping business. On the weekend I went shopping and managed to get $107 worth of laundry detergent, deodorant and ziplock bags for a mere $7. This is so much fun. Anyhow, I have to go now because my dear husband just came home with a Timmie and I have to go RRRRRRooooollllllll up the Rim. Until next time.
